The pier in the photo

The Ocean Beach Municipal Pier opened on July 2, 1966. It is 1,971 feet long, the longest concrete pier on the West Coast.

It has been closed since October 2023 after storm damage. The city is planning a replacement, not a repair. As of August 2026 that replacement was still in environmental review. The beach below the pier is open.

Dog Beach, at the north end of Ocean Beach, is San Diego's only 24-hour off-leash dog beach.
